Khadijatou Victoria Sagnia, also known as Khaddi Sagnia, is a Swedish athlete born on April 20, 1994, in Helsingborg. She is a track and field athlete who specializes in the long jump, short-distance running, and heptathlon events. She is a member of the Ullevi FK sports club based in Gothenburg. Sagnia is of Gambian descent, as her mother was born in The Gambia.
Sagnia won a gold medal in the triple jump event at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games held in Singapore when she was 16 years old, with a jump of 13.56 meters. The following year, she won the triple jump event at the Finnkampen senior meet, took gold at the Swedish national championships, and competed in the Diamond League event in Oslo. In the same year, she also broke her own Swedish junior record in the triple jump, jumping 13.65 meters.
In 2012, Sagnia suffered a cruciate ligament injury, which required two years of rehabilitation. She returned to competition in the winter of 2014-15 and qualified for the Indoor European Championships, where she jumped 6.66 meters but did not advance to the finals.
Sagnia qualified for the World Championships in Beijing in mid-June 2015, and a month later, she participated in the U23 European Championships in Tallinn, where she finished fourth in the long jump event with a jump of 6.64 meters. In August of the same year, she won the gold medal in the long jump event at the Swedish national championships, setting a new personal record of 6.78 meters. She also tied her personal best at the World Championships in Beijing later that month and finished seventh in the long jump final.
At the 2016 Indoor World Championships in Portland, Oregon, Sagnia finished in 14th place with a jump of 6.08 meters after skipping her last jump due to injury. Later that year, she finished in sixth place with a jump of 6.59 meters, six centimeters away from a bronze medal, at the European Championships in Amsterdam. In August of the same year, she failed to qualify for the finals in the long jump event at the Rio Olympics, finishing in 24th place.
Sagnia won a bronze medal in the long jump event at the European Indoor Championships in Toruń in 2021. She has also won several Swedish national championships in various events, including the long jump, triple jump, heptathlon, and 100m hurdles. She has won several gold medals in the long jump event at the Swedish Indoor Championships. Sagnia suffered a new injury in 2019, but she returned to form in 2021 and won another gold medal in the long jump event at the Swedish national championships. In 2022, she won a silver medal in the long jump event at the same championships.
Sagnia has received numerous awards and recognition for her athletic achievements, including the Swedish Sports Confederation’s award for best female field athlete in 2015 and 2016. Her personal best in the long jump event is 6.92 meters, achieved in 2017 at a Diamond League event in Stockholm.
