McKayla Maroney is a retired American artistic gymnast. She is a two-time Olympic medalist, having won a gold medal in the team event and a silver medal in the vault event at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Maroney is also a four-time World champion, having won gold medals in the team and vault events at the 2011 World Championships and in the team event at the 2014 World Championships. She was a member of the “Fierce Five” U.S. women’s gymnastics team that won the team gold medal at the 2012 Olympics. Maroney was born on December 9, 1995 in Aliso Viejo, California.
